Spain bids to host Ryde Cup

In the process of Spain bidding to host the 2018 Ryder Cup, it come up with a number of coup, including launching  a par three which can accommodate 25 thousand spectators. This hole was named as "Plaza de Toros".

There are not only Spain but also Netherlands, Portugal, Germany and France to bid to host 2018 Ryder Cup. However, Span built this kind of hole in order to attract the media to focus on the whole new course which they prepare to establish. The Club de Campo Tre Cantos located in Madrid will be founded from scratch in 2015. Course will be integrated into design of a natural open-air circular arena, because it is very convenient for the fans to watch games. Especially when the large-scale events like Ryde Cup will be held, all of people crowded together and the sight was very bad.

The driving force of these programs is Robin Hiseman of European Golf Design company. Robin Hisman was an Englishman. At the age of 16, he ever drew a line to Nicklaus and consulted him how to become a designer of golf course. Golden Bear not only wrote back, but also gave a very good suggestion to held Robin Hisman to complete his first golf course design eight years later. The latest works of Robin Hiseman included Bahrain Royal Golf Course which was finished with captain of Ryde Cup European Team.

Anyhow, this new course is totally different from Robin Hiseman's former works as well as many exsiting venues. They are ambitious and hope that the course can hold 60 thousand people at the same time. Thinking that this is the second time to host Ryde Cup, this figure should be achieved.

If Ryde Cup really was held in Tres Cantos, it is very credible that a lot of people will go through the sign-hole of golf course: par three at sixteenth hole. Robin Hiseman thought that the design of this hole got the inspiration of classic works as 17th hole of Sawgrass and 16th hole of Augusta. But the most part of inspiration came from 16th hole of Scottsdale. When Pheonix Open was held in TPC of Scottdale, 16th hole was most popular and received a number of audience. "Players must brace themselves up while hitting 16th hole." Robin Hiseman said,"Ryde Cup was the ultimate challenge. Therefore, we hope to introduce this kind of atmosphere to Mardrid."
