
Tiger Woods, the golf superstar has been influenced by the sex scandal. However, the survery found he would have the support of 69 percent of Americans if he was on behalf of the U.S. in golf at the Olympic Games. Last year in October, the International Olympic Committee voted to include golf in the program for the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro and the following edition four years later. At that time, Tiger Woods produced propaganda for golf's Olympic bid campaign.
A survey from Seton Hall University displayed: 68% respondents support him play for US in Olympics for gold medals in golf , although Tiger Woods has taken a infinite leave because of the sex scandal.
Just less than a quarter of respondents to the Seton Hall University sports poll weren’t in favor of the golfer playing on a U.S. team, while 75 percent of men and 63 percent of women said they’d have no problem with him being included.
“Tiger still has work to do to win back the public,” Rick Gentile, the director of the poll, said in a statement. “But the Tiger camp should be pleased by the strong number supporting his being a potential member of the team.”
Woods, 34, last week apologized in a live television address for his marital infidelity and “repeated irresponsible behavior.” The world’s top-ranked player in December said he was taking an indefinite break from the sport after the publication of often-lurid details about his private life following a one-vehicle car crash outside his Florida home on Thanksgiving night.
The Seton Hall University sports poll showed: 39 percent respondents think it was sincere, while a quarter feel he was not sincere. 68 percent satisfied with Tiger Woods in the statement.
The poll was conducted this week by randomly dialing 760 adults aged 18 and over in the U.S. The margin of error is +/- 3.6 percentage points.
